Tufts Life Science Training Initiative: Tufts University College’s Center for Professional and Workforce Impact, in collaboration with leading life sciences organizations, is building a scalable portfolio of micro-credentials to help managers and emerging leaders master the business and management side of the life sciences. These modular trainings are designed to strengthen capabilities in areas such as strategic project management, talent acquisition and retention, effective scientific and project communication, change leadership in regulated environments, and data-driven decision making. Together, they target the skills needed to translate scientific excellence into organizational performance and innovation. Each micro-credential will be a short, intensive course (approximately 10 hours) co-designed by Tufts faculty and industry subject matter experts, with a strong focus on real-world application and immediate on-the-job impact. Every offering will stand on its own as a meaningful professional development experience that culminates in a credential issued by the Center for Professional and Workforce Impact. At the same time, the courses will be intentionally modular and stackable, enabling professionals to build a customized pathway that supports their longer-term career progression in life sciences management.
Subject matter experts will play a central role in shaping content, examples, and use cases that reflect current industry realities across biotech, pharma, and related sectors. By contributing to this initiative, SMEs help Tufts develop a next-generation training ecosystem that supports job-ready, management capable talent across the life sciences.
Topics and Expertise Areas: We are recruiting for topics including applied AI and AI implementation for biopharma and biotech. Expertise in project management, tech transformation, change management, leadership, and communication, governance, as well as technical AI skills such as data science are needed.
Requirements
Micro-Credential Development Process Expectations Time Frame: 10-12 weeks per micro-credential build
Time Commitment: Approximately 50-70 hours, depending on content type and content readily available.
SME Content Expectations: SMEs will be responsible for the development and curation of their content into the final version of the micro-credential. This includes the development of the following learning assets listed below. Tufts University Instructional Design teams will assist the SME with media assets such as video editing and overall product review, but will not be responsible for content creation or curation.
Each credential may include the following:
-Video lessons Interactive activities (such as click-to-reveal, drag-and-drop timelines, and hotspots) Readings
-Case studies, real-world scenarios
-Knowledge checks, low-stakes assessments Interactive pages
-Templates or participant workbooks Structured reflection prompts
-Facilitator guides (if applicable)
-All content must be accurate, relevant, up-to-date, and cited correctly if drawn from an open sources.
Qualifications- Required
-Candidates should possess strong Communication and Writing skills to convey complex AI and life science concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
-Candidates should possess Content Development and Technical Writing skills to create accurate, engaging training materials and documentation.
-Relevant experience in AI, data science, or computational methods applied to life sciences or healthcare.
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and subject matter experts in academic or professional settings.
-Familiarity with e-learning tools, learning management systems, and multimedia content creation is desirable.
-Industry connections to support contextualization of course content within life sciences jobs and drive learner engagement
