Job DescriptionThe University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) Department of Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for a Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) Training Specialist. This position, in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), plans and delivers training on co-occurring serious mental illness and substance use disorders for Maryland behavioral health providers working with individuals with these co-occurring disorders (COD). This position will require some travel within the state.
The COD Training Specialist will work as a part of the Department of Psychiatry's Behavioral Health Systems Improvement Collaborative (BHSIC) - Evidence-Based Practice Center, located in Catonsville, MD.

Primary Duties
- Assesses training needs related to Co-Occurring Disorders (COD) assessment and treatment for providers throughout the state. Develops evaluation plans, evaluates individual training modules, prepares written reports of findings, and devises quality improvement plans.
- Develops and prepares general training materials such as manuals, online learning modules, self-test instruments, and course materials to meet behavioral health provider needs. Revises and modifies training materials as needed.
- Delivers in-person and online training.
- Collaborates with other Evidence-Based Practice Center Training Specialists to develop and provide trainings related to COD throughout the state.
- Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of training through evaluation measures. Partners with stakeholders and/or experts to provide and/or analyze training data.
- Maintains effective mechanisms for ongoing relationships/partnerships with all relevant stakeholders, including those from BHA and MDH, local behavioral health authorities, the behavioral health provider community, and the University of Maryland.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, business, communications or related degree. Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or public health preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of providing behavioral health services training experience or other related training experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience working as a Substance Use Specialist treating people with serious mental illnesses preferred. Training experience within the behavioral health field preferred.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Hiring Range: $69,500 - $80,000, commensurate with education and experience.
